After School surfing Program
Port Macquarie Surf School picks you up from your school in our 12 seater surf school bus fully equipped with seat belts.
We then take you to Flynns Beach for afternoon tea and a surf lesson till 5.30pm. Children will be taught the skills to riding the waves and the program is adapted for each surfer’s skill level. Children will also be educated about surf awareness and surf safety.
Then parents pick their child/ren up from Flynns beach at 5.30pm
What’s provided
All surfing equipment soft boards, wetsuits and rash shirts and a healthy afternoon tea snack.
What to Bring
Swimwear, towel, if you have your own wetsuit and would like to use your more than welcome to bring it along.
What happens if I can't make a lesson one week?
If your child can't make after school surfing one day we ask that you please phone, email or text message our office to let us know so that we know they are not coming this lesson will be forfeited.

MAKE UP LESSONS WILL ONLY BE OFFERED IF PORT MACQUARIE SURF SCHOOL CANCELS A LESSON DUE TO DANGEROUS SURF.

Children will be picked up from their school bus lines. The surf bus will pull into the bus bay area and the teacher on bus duty will load the surfers onto the surf bus.
If your child is not sure where the surf school bus lines are, they can ask the teacher on bus duty and they will show them here to wait.
Bus Transport Guidelines for ChildrenFor the safety and well-being of all passengers, children are expected to:
Wear seatbelts at all times to ensure safety during the ride.
Listen to and respect all instructions from the coaches to ensure smooth and safe transportation.
Stay seated in their assigned seats for the duration of the ride.
Refrain from swearing, shouting, or throwing food to prevent distractions for both the coaches and members of the public.
From Flynns Beach between 5.15-5.30pm. We set up to the north of the lifeguard tower ( if it is raining we are under the surf club awning/balcony.)

This program is recomended for 7+ years of age.
Program commences on the following dates for term 2 2026 9 week program
Tuesday 28.4.2026- Week 2
Wednesday 29.4.2026- Week 2
Thursday 23.4.2026- Week 1
Please Note: Thursday surfers in term 2 2026 will commence their program in week 1 Thursday 23.4.2026
There is no after school surfing, Thursday 30th April (Week 2 of the term ) Huddo will be in Newcastle Head Judging a surf comp
Port Macquarie Surf School is a Licensed Member of the Surfing Australia Surfschool Network through Surfing NSW, its affiliated state branch.
Surfing Australia is the peak body for Surfing in Australia and a non-profit organisation who promote a safe learning environment that is provided by licensed surfschools such as Port Macquarie surf School. They offer quality coaching to all their clients and maintain the standards expected of Surf Schools who are part of the Surfing Australia Surfschool Network and delivering the Safe Surfing Program endorsed by the Australian Sports commission.”
Cancellation policy
•Unfortunately no refunds can be given if, for any reason, you have to leave early while participating in a surf lesson.
•Once you have started your course, surf lessons are not transferable to anyone else.
•Our beaches, and all beaches for that matter, are at times subject to currents, troughs, rips, shallow sandbanks and strong winds. We strongly advise you to take the time to consider these factors before you sign the Declaration Form and participate in a surf lesson.
•We reserve the right to cancel or postpone surf lessons due to poor or dangerous surf conditions.
• Students are to listen to the advice of coaches at all times. Coaches are there to assist and keep all students safe.
•Even on rainy days, lessons will be still be held. We’re all going to get wet anyway
- Make up surf lessons are offered if Port Macquarie Surf School needs to cancel a surf lesson.
- If surfers cancels a surf lesson this will be forfeited
